Ankle MRI
Achilles Tendon:
Does not contain a tendon sheath so when you have tendinopathy will see edema in the adjacent soft tissues
Posterior edema > anterior edema
When there is defect, want to described distance relative to the calcaneal attachment (measure the distance)
Peroneal tendons
Communicate with joint space
So when you see perifocal fluid around the tendons you need to look at volume of fluid in the joint
If volume of fluid in joint is alot then makes sense that there is fluid in the tendon area
If volume of fluid is low in joint and alot around tendon, need to question if there is another issues going on (tendinopathy)
Talus
When looking at talus from above (tibia’s view) draw the talus into 6 sections
The middle and most medial box is the most likely location for an osteochondral injury
Injury
The Achilles, posterior tibialis tendon and plantar fascia all work together
When one is injured look closely for an injury to the others
Plantar Fascia
Fibromatosis most likely to occur at the distal aspect of the plantar fascia
Plantar fasciitis most likely to occur along the more proximal aspect of the plantar fascia
Fibularis
Split fibularis tendon tear
Usually associated with a flattened posterior fibula, because the fibers abut the flat part and can’t just go forward I guess
