Cardiac Uptake on Bone Scan

• Common incidental finding

• DDx:

  • Recent cardiac radiotracer use for another test - sestamibi or tetrofosmin

    • Should also have bowel and hepatobiliary uptake

  • Amyloidosis —> Diffuse myocardial uptake

  • Pericarditis —> Diffuse heart activity, not just one ventricle or focal area

  • Myocarditis

  • Myocardial infarction —> should be focal not diffuse
