Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA)

Patient Identification Label Must Include

• Patient name

• Patient unique identification number (and/or DOB)

• Facility name & location

• Examination date

• Technologist’s initials

• Mammographic identification unit

• Cassette (screen) number for screen-film and computed radiography images

• Laterality and view

Positive Prediction Value Stuff

• PPV-1

  • Anything you call back from a screener

  • PPV should be about 4%

• PPV-2

  • Anything you recommend a biopsy on

  • PPV should be about 25%

• PPV-3

  • Anything you did a biopsy on and got a malignant result

  • PPV should be about 30%

General

• Patients with BI-RADS 1 or 2 need to have a letter mailed within 30 days
